Zintec steel - Zintec has become a generic name describing a cold rolled mild steel which is electrolytically coated with a thin layer of Zinc. Zintec sheet has a matt grey appearance and does not have a finished/decorative finish to its surface. Zintec looks different to the much brighter surface of a galvatite sheet. It can be made in a variety of thicknesses. The advantage of Zintec sheet over uncoated mild steel sheet is the added corrosive resistance. The Zinc coating is usually 1.0 to 1.75 microns, depending on the level of corrosion resistance needed for the end product. Uses of Zintec sheet include in air conditioning plant and car bodies, in washing machines, car components, sheet metal fabrications and other non-aggressive environments. Zinc coated metal sheets are the next best thing to stainless steel but are less expensive. Zintec should not be confused with Galvanised Steel
