Alfa Romeo... dei nostri sogni (lit. Alfa Romeo... from our memories)
This is an unusual book, with an unusual title, "Portello.... for our memories" would have been more descriptive.
It has also been described as being rather a sad book, in that it portrays Portello, the Alfa Romeo Milan factory, from the early days through to the last years as a derelict factory with trees growing in roadways etc.
The entire Portello site has now been demolished and cleared, yet this book remains as a testament to the home of pre-war & pre-Arese post-war Alfa Romeos.
While it cannot be described as a "must have" book which should be on every Alfisti's shelves, the many B&W archive photos from the busy hey-days of Portello, contrasted with the recent colour photos of dereliction and stillness, make it a fascinating addition to the library of lovers of Alfa Romeos of the '50s & '60s.
This book has been written and privately published by Davide de Bertolis, and as such is a limited edition.
131 pages, 40 B&W and 84 colour photos, English and Italian introductory text & captions.
